Szklarska Poręba is one of the most popular tourist towns in the Polish Sudetes. Located at the foot of the Karkonosze, it attracts tourists all year round, offering exceptional scenic values, numerous natural attractions, and excellent conditions for hiking, cycling, and cross-country skiing.
One of the most recognizable symbols of the town is the Kamieńczyk Waterfall – the highest waterfall on the Polish side of the Karkonosze, whose waters fall in three cascades from a height of 27 meters. Equally popular is the picturesque Szklarka Waterfall, located in the midst of a dense forest. The most important destination for mountain hiking remains Szrenica (1362 m above sea level), one of the best-known peaks of the Karkonosze. Numerous hiking trails lead to it, and the summit offers extensive views of both the Polish and Czech sides of the mountains. Szklarska Poręba is also one of the most important cycling centers in Poland. The extensive network of trails runs through both the Karkonosze and the Izera Mountains, enabling active exploration of the region. Singletrack routes, offering dynamic rides on specially prepared forest paths, are very popular. Among the most interesting options are the Small and Large Szklarska Loops, leading through the most attractive corners of the area, as well as longer routes connecting Polish and Czech mountain areas. In winter, the tourist activity center moves to Jakuszyce, considered the capital of Polish cross-country skiing. The extensive network of professionally prepared trails attracts thousands of amateurs and professionals every year. The Bieg Piastów trails, the largest cross-country skiing event in Poland, have gained special renown.
The combination of unique natural attractions, a rich network of hiking trails, and excellent sports infrastructure makes Szklarska Poręba one of the most attractive holiday resorts in Poland. It is a place that successfully combines sightseeing values with opportunities for active leisure at any time of the year.
