The most important destination of mountain hikes remains Szrenica (1362 m above sea level), one of the most famous peaks of the Karkonosze. Szklarska Poręba is also one of the most important cycling centers in Poland. An extensive network of routes leads through both the Karkonosze and Izera Mountains, enabling active exploration of the region. Singletrack routes are very popular, offering dynamic rides on specially prepared forest trails. Among the most interesting options are the Small and Large Szklarska Loops, leading through the area's most attractive spots, as well as longer routes connecting Polish and Czech mountain areas. In winter, the center of tourist activity moves to Jakuszyce, considered the capital of Polish cross-country skiing. An extensive network of professionally prepared trails attracts thousands of amateurs and professionals every year. The Bieg Piastów race trails - the largest cross-country skiing event in Poland - have gained particular renown.
